Club Competitions

Alton Social Club Competition Rules

National, County and District competitions take preference.

The challenger, (top name of the draw), should offer two dates, one of which must be weekend, as soon as possible for the first round and within two days of the closing date of the previous round.

If the challenger fails to offer dates within two dates of the closing of the previous round the opponent becomes the challenger and shall offer two dates as above.

The challenger should make all arrangements for the game.

All rounds must be completed by the play by date.

NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN.

Competition rinks should be drawn except in the Ladies and Men’s Championships, where the challenger gets preference.

The players that take part in the first round of the competition, constitute “the team”.

One substitute may be used provided that they have not previously played in the competition.

FINALS WILL BE PLAYED DURING THE FINALS WEEK, MONDAY,14th to SATURDAY, 19th SEPTEMBER 2026.

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER IF YOU WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.

Club Competitions

Entry forms for this year’s club competitions will be available in the clubhouse from Thursday afternoon, 7th May.
Please familiarise yourself with the new rules for the Charlie Porter and Sylvia Stean competitions and also with the new Roving Jack competition – see below.
These rules will be on the noticeboard where the competition draws will be pinned soon after the entry closing date of Wednesday 20th May.
Please place your completed entry forms and cash/cheque payments in the box provided in the clubhouse.

Roll Ups

Roll ups will take place on Monday evenings starting at 6pm until 7pm or 7.30 pm when the season warms up. Jenny will be there, weather permitting to organise. you can contact Jenny on 07511 732572 if you have any questions. New bowlers welcome.
